Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
- The Atlantic Pilot Program, which began in 2017, assists firms in Atlantic Canada in hiring foreign skilled workers who wish to move to the province as well as international graduates who want to stay in the province after graduation.
- Employers in the Atlantic area, including Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island, can recruit candidates without having to go through the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
- A designated employer is a company that has been approved by the province to participate in the pilot program. The procedure starts when a designated employer delivers a valid job offer to a candidate who is a good fit for the job requirements.
- Once the offer is accepted, the designated employer must commit to support the candidate and his or her settlement in the Atlantic Canada.
- If a business has an urgent need to fill a position, the employer can apply for a temporary work visa to invite the candidate as soon as possible if the candidates meet specific eligibility requirements.
- Under the pilot program, the employers can hire foreign workers and international students from 1 of 3 sub-programs available as follows
- Atlantic High-Skilled Program
- Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program
- Atlantic International Graduate Program
- The candidates may become eligible under more than one program, but application could only be initiated under one program. Each program has its own requirements but they generally include:
- Valid Job Offer in the Atlantic Province
- Skills, Experience and Education
- Language Skills
- Intention to reside in the Atlantic province
- Ability to settle with the Family in Canada
*please note these are minimum requirements, additional requirements will vary with each category/program*
